Christopher (Kit) Scotchmer

CHRISTOPHER (KIT) SCOTCHMER practices insurance-related litigation, including coverage disputes, professional liability, municipal liability, construction and property damage litigation, Directors’ and Officers’ liability, class actions, and commercial disputes. Kit has represented professionals, corporations, insurers and policyholders at all levels of Court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal for Ontario, as well as before various administrative tribunals.

Prior to joining Stieber Berlach LLP, Kit was a litigation lawyer in private practice, as well as in-house coverage counsel and then an executive on the Senior Leadership Claims Team of a federally regulated financial institution covering all Claims lines of business, including specialty, professional liability and financial lines.

Kit holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts (Hons. B.A.) with Distinction and Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Toronto, a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) from the University of Western Ontario, as well as Chartered Insurance Professional (C.I.P.), Canadian Risk Management (C.R.M.) and Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/C) designations.
