Avi has a broad-based tort defence practice. He acts for media and technology companies in privacy, cyber security, and defamation litigation. He acts for various REITs and commercial property owners in occupiers’ liability matters. Avi’s tort practice also includes acting for various manufacturers and distributors in defending product liability claims in the food and machine industries.
Avi acts for both domestic and foreign insurers respecting insurance coverage matters. He provides coverage, monitoring and coverage litigation advice to Directors and Officers (D&O), Errors and Omissions (E&O), Cyber, Commercial General Liability (CGL), Property, and Environmental Impairment Liability (EIL) insurers, both primary and excess/umbrella.
Avi has spoken and written on privacy issues and is recognized as a thought leader in this field. He has also conducted client seminars on topics such as insurance coverage, professional liability, and media liability.
Avi obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law in 2011.
