Biography

MARIA GRUBISIC is a passionate and dynamic litigator dedicated to providing cost-effective and creative solutions for her clients. Maria has a particular interest in construction litigation,  director liability matters, employment litigation, corporate governance disputes, and commercial matters.

Maria has appeared before the Small Claims Court, Superior Court, and the Divisional Court. She has also appeared before various administrative and regulatory tribunals and assisted on matters before all levels of Court.

Before joining Stieber Berlach, Maria practiced commercial litigation at a well-respected full-service law firm in Peel, where she worked on a diverse range of complex litigation matters for clients ranging from small businesses to multi-national corporations.

Maria received her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School. During law school, in addition to first year moots, Maria participated in the Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot in a patent litigation case. In the Summer of 2018, Maria participated in TMC Asser Institute’s International Law Program where she studied and received certification in International Criminal Law and International Legal and Comparative Approaches to Counter-Terrorism.

Maria is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Toronto Lawyers Association.

Maria is fluent in the Serbo-Croatian languages.

In her spare time, Maria enjoys obsessing over American politics, travelling, and watching motorsports. Maria is passionate about fundraising, volunteering, and fostering with various animal rescues.

  • Successfully opposed the appeal of an Ontario Superior Court trial decision surrounding fundamental contract principles of recission and repudiation of two commercial sale contracts RAH Transport Inc. v. Pride Truck Sales Ltd., 2024 ONSC 1420 (Div. Ct.)
