Founding partner DEBORAH BERLACH specializes in professional liability, including Directors and Officers liability, insurance coverage and health law.
Deborah represents clients at all levels of Court in Ontario, as well as various administrative tribunals. Her focus is on medical liability defence, including the defence of products, hospitals, and health care professionals. Deborah has conducted a number of trials involving complex medical issues, including the role of allegedly defective products and defending and prosecuting cross claims against physicians.
She has spoken extensively on coverage, trial practice, Directors and Officers liability and health law at the Canadian Bar Association; Ontario Bar Association; Canadian Institute; Canadian Defence Lawyers; Defense Research Institute; professional association seminars and insurance company-sponsored training programs.
Deborah conducts seminars and lectures frequently on issues regarding the defence of claims made by patients and doctors, against products, hospitals and other health care professionals, as well as issues surrounding the conduct of their affairs.
Deborah obtained her Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Civil Laws degrees from McGill University in 1982.
